Social media optimization (SMO) is a set of methods for generating publicity through social media, online communities and discussion board. Method of SMO includes adding RSS feeds, blogging, and incorporating third-party community functionalities like images and videos. Many of them misunderstand that SMO is a process of Search engine marketing but it differs in several ways as it primarily focus on driving traffic from sources other than search engines, Nowadays many of them has also started to look it as a way of viral marketing, which is accomplished through the use of networking in social book marking, video and photo sharing websites. In similar way the blog too achieve the same by sharing content through the use of RSS in the blogosphere and special blog search engines.

Earlier it was the Search engine only which fetches you with a huge traffic but after the development of concept of SMO, they aren’t the only source to fetch you big traffic anymore, Social media optimization tactics also can drive huge amount of people to a website.
